Yamaha High Thrust T60XB 60HP 4-Stroke Extra-Long Shaft Outboard Engine
Heavy-Duty High-Thrust Outboard Built for Maximum Control & Load Power
The Yamaha High Thrust T60XB 60HP 4-Stroke Extra-Long Shaft Outboard Engine is a specialized marine engine designed for superior pushing power, precise maneuverability, and reliable performance on heavy boats. Unlike standard 60HP outboards, the T60XB is engineered with a high-thrust gear ratio and large-prop capability, making it ideal for sailboats, pontoons, workboats, and heavily loaded vessels that require strong low-speed control rather than high top-end speed.
Built around Yamaha’s proven 996cc inline 4-cylinder 4-stroke platform, the T60XB delivers smooth, fuel-efficient performance combined with exceptional torque at low RPMs. This makes it a dependable choice for boaters who need consistent pushing power in currents, wind, and heavy load conditions.
Engine Performance & Design
The Yamaha T60XB is optimized for thrust rather than speed. Its high-thrust gear ratio (approx. 2.33:1) allows the engine to spin a larger, more efficient propeller, improving water grip and reducing slippage. This results in stronger pushing force, especially at low speeds where most heavy boats operate.
A key advantage of the T60 series is its ability to deliver excellent forward and reverse thrust, thanks to Yamaha’s Dual Thrust propeller system, which redirects exhaust flow for improved grip in both directions. This makes docking, tight maneuvering, and station-keeping significantly easier.
The engine also features Yamaha’s Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, ensuring smooth starting, reliable combustion, and efficient fuel use under varying load conditions. Combined with SOHC 16-valve architecture, it provides stable performance with low vibration and quiet operation.
Extra-Long Shaft Advantage
The extra-long shaft (25-inch class / X-type configuration) is specifically designed for:
- Deep transom boats
- Sailboats with high freeboard
- Pontoons and multi-hull vessels
- Rough water conditions
This ensures the propeller stays properly submerged even in waves, preventing cavitation and maintaining consistent thrust performance.
